January/February 2010

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

Weather conditions: If the majority of schools are closed, we will probably be closed, too.  You can always check the answering machine to double check.  Please remember to leave all boots OUTSIDE the classrooms, by the coat racks.  Children can leave a pair of slippers inside their tote bags for the classroom, so you won’t have to lace up their shoes at the class.  Remember to always label clothes.  Gloves can be kept inside the children’s sleeves so they’re not lost.

Valentine’s Party!  We will have a Valentine exchange this year!  Feel free to bring small baggies filled with treats to hand out to the other students this year!  If you’d like to bring in Valentine’s Day cards, make sure they’re only labeled with your child’s name: “Happy Valentine’s Day!  Love, your student”.  If you would like to stay for the party, we love to have helpers.  Please remember that we do not allow siblings (see the December newsletter for further explanations).  We will be having specials snacks, but we won’t have a sign-up list as we did for Christmas.  Just let me know what you’d like to bring in.  We’d love to have some cookies, Rice Krispie treats and even fruit!  This year, Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday, so we will have ours on February 11.

Conferences:  We will be having conferences in February.  We will not have our regular class time, but we will assign each parent a time during those hours to come in and discuss your child’s progress.  Each conference is approximately 10 minutes while we go through some work and our observations on your child’s progress.  During this time, your child and any other siblings are welcome to come in and play while we have our conferences.  If coming to the class is not possible, we can do a conference via the phone.  We do not reschedule conferences.  In the past few years, we’ve had so many people forget or cancel their conferences for some reason that it becomes very difficult to find times to make them up.    Conferences will be on February 25.

Gymnastics!  Coming up in March will be our gymnastics field trip!  Keep the date in mind (March 4) and more information will come.

Taxes:  If you are married with both spouses working outside the home, you may write off Noah’s Ark for a day care credit on your taxes.  Make sure you check with your own personal accountant for further qualifications.  My tax ID # has changed now that we are a corporation.  The new ID is:  30-0535992.

2010-2011 School Year: We’ll soon be taking enrollment for September!  The prices will be the same ($50 materials charge and $27/week).  We will have a 2 day morning and afternoon program.  We will also have a 3 day week (Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) available for $38.  Let your friends know about our school!  We offer a free week for our current families who recommend us!  Remember, though, these need to be people new to Noah’s Ark (not family members, etc) who have chosen our program over other preschools.  I do have brochures you could even pass out at McDonald’s, the park or other places.  Just remember to put your name on the brochure so we can give you the credit.  I will have these available in February.  Do remember that enrollment starts in February!  Last year, we had a lot of people wait until August and we not able to get into the classes and some were even turned away because I make decisions regarding class and teachers in August 1.
